Two Chinese schools have links with the armed forces are suspected in the ongoing Operations Aurora attacks against Google. It is also confirmed that the origin of the attacks was China. It’s again possible that hackers from outside China ran, or had an involvement in, at least some of the attacks.

According to the investigators, one important aspect for the investigation is to focus on two Chinese computer science institutes, one of the two is Shanghai Jiaotong University and the other one is the Lanxiang Vocational School.
Lanxiang is a vocational school mostly involved in training some military computer scientists. Jiaotong is a top flight university that teaches computer science courses. Officials of two schools said that they haven’t heard anything from US investigators.
Professor at Jiaotong’s school of information security engineering said that students sometimes hack western websites, and also hijacking of its IP addresses by external hackers is a common practice. Officials at Lanxiang told that its students were middle-school students learning skills such as Photoshop.
