URL Shortener Initiates DDoS Attacks!
There are many URL shorteners, most of the them are famous for their speed in shortening the given URL. The specialty of this URL is that it shortens the URLs to promote the DDoS attacks. Shocked? Yes guys, doz.me is a URL shortening service developed by Ben Schmidt, he is a student and researcher form the University of Tulsa.
He has made this URL shortener, just because he was feeling uneasy of the increasing number of URL shorteners. He has successfully executed a string of DDos attacks on both sides of WikiLeaks.
Developer of this URL shortener explains the working of the application. Whenever the attacker goes to the site doz.me and he enters a link to share it all over the internet and he also enters the address of a server he wants to attack. Now share the shortened URL with as many people as you can. You can use the text on social media to achieve good results.
As you shared the link, now any user who clicks this link he will get a page with content in an embedded iframe code. Once the user clicks the link shared by you, a malicious Javascript DoS starts sending the request to the targeted server.
As user stops browsing the page the initiated attack also halts. This tool can be used to initiate attack against the cybercriminal’s webpages. Developer of this tool is not responsible for any rouge Javascript code running on any server.
This proves that if anyone wants to initiates a malicious activity he can easily do so without injecting into user’s machines.
