If you know anyone from your social circle or random having a Skype username with the associated email address. Bingo! You can easily hijack their accounts and reset the password without their knowledge.
The issue was first discovered and reported by Russian hackers, later confirmed by TheNextWeb guys. Following were the steps taken to hijack.
Update – Skype has taken down Password reset page for now and the officials comments over user’s safety first. Below is the statement given by the officials:
We have had reports of a new security vulnerability issue. As a precautionary step we have temporarily disabled password reset as we continue to investigate the issue further. We apologize for the inconvenience but user experience and safety is our first priority.
