Missing Features in iOS 4.2
For quite a long time peoople are looking for ways to do multitasking on their iPads and it was definitely an agonizing delay for the iPad users till the release of iOS 4.2, However in the past when iOS4 was released the potential was already became clear for iPad users and while iPhone and iPod Touch user were enjoying some *so called* multitasking, the delay was worth waiting for iPad owners (considering the rewards of iOS update).

Features like the ability to organize apps in folders, streaming internet radio in background on iPad are excellent additions and the threaded display on mails in inbox have indeed made it quite simplified and time-saving. But there are still a few things missing that we expected in this iOS update. Firstly this iPad OS has too much similarities with the OS for iPhone. Almost all the functionalities are same, the folder system, the bar for multitasking are all identical, Although there’s nothing wrong with it but wasn’t iPad suppose to be something like a small computer?!
Anyways, Another feature that should have been included in this iOS release is the ability to use split-screen i.e. use Safari Browser and Mail or any other two apps side by side! Yes, multitasking did made the opening and closing of apps much faster but still if there had been a split screen option (or may be a grid display) users will be able to run multiple apps side by side and could be useful in displaying loads of information at once!
We can run apps for iPhone in iPad but in small screen or expand/zoom it upto twice the size but the thing I have not been able to understand yet why can’t we run apps on iPad which optimized for iPhone 4 retina display? The iPad resolution 1024×768 is obviously greater than iPhone 4′s 960×640 pixels resolution and also internal specifications of an iPhone 4 are also almost same as the spec of Apple’s iPad.. **May be any of you readers know why we can’t run retina display optimized apps on our iPad? and might want to share your thoughts in the comments below**
Furthermore, as iPad user know that native calculator is not present in iPad, and it would be really nice for many of the iPad users (just my opinion) if Apple had included an option to call up in a pop-up whenever user want, like a pop-up calculator, pop-up app for weather display, RSS news or any other widget would be really useful and time saving.
