Nokia N8: 256MB Ram For Multitasking?!
After waiting so long iPhone users can now enjoy the multitasking on their handset as Apple has finally introduced it. But on the other hand for a while now (with certain limitations), Nokia users have already been doing multitasking. Indeed errors like “memory full” are resulted whenever user tries to run many apps at once in the background. Before the release of Nokia N8, The users of Nokia N96 and N97 have faced/seen this “memory full” problem whenever they try to run multiple apps in the background. Now a question arises in mind that since the new Nokia N8 has only 256mb of RAM then will be enough to be able to multitask?

In a recent pre-release video of Nokia N8 demonstration which was shown at Nokia Connections, I have added that video below in which you can see at around 40 seconds in the video, you will notice a “Memory Full” error which ask to close some application and then try again.
The error was resulted when the representative tried to play video from gallery. After few seconds of embarrassment, she showed the apps currently running in the background, there were N8 wifi wizard, photo editor, internet browser, gallery, social networking application and application menu itself.
But before coming on to the conclusion we should have to keep in mind that the device which was showing in the video by the Nokia representative was not running the final version of the software.
Just for some comparison, the Nokia N900 also has 256mb of RAM while the Nokia N97 had 128MB. Keeping in mind that when Google’s Nexus One when released, came out with 512MB of memory. On the other hand the new iPhone4 which doesn’t support *real* multitasking got 512mb of memory! While this nokia N8 has just 256MB of RAM. Not sure why Nokia didn’t go for a larger RAM?!
