Worst Tech’s main and the only purpose is to provide you guys with the worst aspects of happenings in the world of technology. So by considering this fact I have decided to tell you guys about top 5 “worst online scams”. You guys are aware of the word “scam”, but in case if you know what is scam, let me define for those who don’t know the scam.
So according to Wikipedia scam is defined as:
A confidence trick to defraud a person or group by gaining their confidence.

The same definition goes for the online scams. It seems that these scams are never-ending, you guys should be clear with that fact that there are lots of online scams these. The main target of scams are the increasing popularity of social networking sites such as Twitter and Facebook.
Now enough of the introduction, let me list the top online scams.
First in the list the iPad tester scam: What it does is, there is an application on Facebook, offering you and your friends to get a free iPad as part of a research program. What you will do now? Of course you will sign up.

Now you will be asked to ‘Become a Fan’ of the page. Then, ‘Invite your friends’, as this would increase your chances to win an iPad. Then you are asked to ‘Claim’ for your prize. Now hang on, here is that the scam, you will be signed up to a premium rate services, which will cost you $10 per week, until you unsubscribe. This scam also appears on Twitter as well and via email.
Second is the “Is This You” scam: This is a Twitter scam. What it does is, it spreads through direct messages, you receive a direct message on Twitter from a friend, asking ‘is this you?’, followed by a link. When you click on the link, your computer is compromised as someone has in fact hacked into your friend’s account.
This is known phishing scam. You should make sure that you don’t click on these kind of links.
Then we have, the “Ticket Scam”: This scam is not the new scam of its type, it is a big problem. What if you want tickets for any show, but you didn’t get it. Now what? Now you will browse through sites, and you discovered one, this site is offering tickets for the show at a higher price.

So you go ahead and pay, but the tickets are fake. What to do then? Try to avoid.
“Fake Websites”: Is just another way to make you guys fool. Just like the fake ticket websites, you also need to keep your eyes open for websites which sell fake goods. These websites can just like Google sponsored links, making you believe that the ads there are genuine. But when ever you click on these links, you are fooled.

Just another example is the fake Hotmail page, whenever you enter any of your credentials, your ID and password are emailed to the sender.
At last we have “Recruitment Scam”: Scammers used this to their advantage by setting up fake recruitment websites.

These websites show a great and catchy advertisement, then it appears like a great job, and all you need to do is, just send your CV, and you are scammed!
